The Spalding & Hodge paper business was established in London 23 Nov 1789 with an indenture between Thomas Hodgson, Thomas Spalding and Henry Routh with a capital of £1,800 (earlier reference indicate a start date in 1796). This business grew strongly in the 19th century, expanded globally, survived both World Wars but faded from existence in the 1960s. It is understood that the names was finally dissolved in Companies House on 15 June 1984, 195 years after the foundation.
